The Africa Platform has  been one of the most active organizations in the Post 2015 and sustainable Development Goals dialogue, with a primary focus on State Society relations within the context of Governance, “Whole of Society” Development agenda Peaceful Societies.

We were the first of only two Global Civil Society Organizations nominated for the first open dialogue with the then newly formed members of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Post 2015.

We were the first organization to hold a series of internal lobby dialogue sessions with key member states soon after the formation of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals. Our meetings with the  Co-Chairs Kenya and Hungary  in April 2013 provided  Global Civil Society with the first panoramic view  of the SDG/Post 2015 Agenda and the political decisions that faced Civil Society in this process.

Since then we have been the source of several analysis that have shaped Civil Society engagement with member states in the Post 2015/SDG Agenda (See link here for some of our analysis

We have been part of the Open Working Group Civil Society Panel Speakers as well as co-hosting strategy sessions with Civil Society as part of strengthening the understanding of member states on key areas related to state society relations and peaceful societies in post conflict situations.

The Platform is also one of the key members of the Africa Working Group on Post 2015/SDG

In May 2014 The Africa Platform partnered with the Commonwealth Foundation in providing eleven members of the Africa Working Group on Post 2015/SDG with an opportunity to hold a series of private interactive sessions with several Africa Member states in New York. The series of meetings have led to an ongoing partnership that is expected to build into a collaborative advocacy and knowledge sharing throughout the duration of the SDG negotiations.
